About Laurie Tietjen
Described as a Renaissance Woman, Laurie E. Tietjen possesses a wide range of talents, abilities, and interests: a licensed educator, Certified Public Accountant, business consultant, jazz musician, and visual artist. It is her talent in the visual arts that rises above the rest to provide that eternal footprint to be left on the world's stage.
Many works from art history have captured her eye, but her heart has been captured by the works of the Masters of Traditional Realism, such as Andrew Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, John Singer Sargent, and Rembrandt, as well as the Photorealists, such as contemporary artist and friend Johannes Wessmark.
Her style has been described as thoughtful and almost meditative. It is tight and precise, not surprisingly reminiscent of the Renaissance in its use of Tenebrism.
Recognition includes the invitation to join the exclusive International Guild Of Realism. Juried exhibition entries have been won in the 13th Annual International Guild of Realism Exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the 44th Annual Watercolor West International Exhibition in Los Angeles, California, the Kentucky Watercolor Society Aqueous 34th Annual National Show, the Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition, the White River Exhibit, Branson, Missouri, and the Heartland Artist National Exhibition in Kansas City.
Her work also won a juried position as a part of the prestigious Masterworks Museum Tour, also sponsored by The International Guild of Realism. The tour is a nation-wide multi-location art and museum exhibition held through 2015.
She has had two pieces selected for the Linus Galleries Portraiture Online Exhibit, and for two years straight, her work has been selected as part of NOAPS Best of America Art Exhibition. She has received awards in the 2015 Hilton Head Biennale Art Show and the 2015 and 2016 White River Art Exhibits.
Laurie lives, works, and is inspired in the beautiful Ozarks of Southwest Missouri on a 5-horse ranch that she shares with her veterinarian husband, Tom, Harvey the Great Pyrenees, Lucy the Australian Shepherd, Mixed Siamese pound rescue kitties, Taco and Belle, Bobbie Cat, Denzel Washingcat, and Bubba, the Wonder Cockatiel.
